A seven paged indentured lease and release deed and bond on paper, relating to a house in Wester Lane, also known as Wild’s Lane, and now known as Walkergate. The agreement is made on the 22 February 1724, during the reign of King George the first. The agreement is between Arthur Edmeston of the borough of Berwick upon Tweed, Burgesse of the first part and John Edmeston the younger of the same borough, Burgesse and merchant of the other part. The consideration for the agreement is the sum of five shillings. The property is described as all that burgage or tenement and garden, situated, standing, lying and being within the borough of Berwick upon Tweed on the west side of a street there called Wester Lane, also Wild’s Lane, between a burgage or tenement and garden belonging to Matthew Foster, Alderman on the south a burgage or tenement and garden heretofore belonging to James Cotterall, Alderman, deceased and now of Thomas Nealson, on the north a certain lane or alley or passage belonging to the airs of Thomas Grieve, Alderman, and on the west and the street aforesaid on the east. The document is on paper. The document is in good condition with obvious fold lines, and browning. Some surface wrinkling. Localised discolouration.
