Following the StingRay released in 1976, we have a used "Sabre II," an improved version manufactured from 1978 to around 1980! Based on the neck and pot dates, we have determined it to be a 1978 model.
It has undergone fret leveling and nut adjustment using PLEK, and while there is some slight buzz due to the original low frets, it is in perfectly usable player's condition. Although there is some minor dirt, the original accessories are still included, making it a valuable collector's item!
PLEK is a machine that quantifies and visualizes the condition of the neck, fretboard, and frets of instruments such as guitars and basses, in 1/1000th of a millimeter increments, with the strings strung and tuned as if being played. This allows for the determination of the appropriate settings for string vibration and enables ultra-high-precision fret balancing.
PLEK adjustment results in a clearer tone, achieving the instrument's natural resonance and comfortable playability. A distinctive feature is its built-in preamp powered by a 9V battery, which was state-of-the-art at the time.
It has one volume control, a two-band EQ, and two mini-switches: a bright switch (black) that produces sparkling highs and a phase switch (white) that creates a unique, tinny low-cut sound. There are scratches on the pickguard from use, and the hardware is tarnished and scratched. Condition: The fretboard surface shows some slight warping, but the frets have been leveled to an ideal line using PLEK.
Truss Rod: It is slightly stiff, but adjustable in both directions, and works without problems.
