STORIES FROM GRIMM (M.A. DONOHUE & CO 1925).  Hardcover book.  1st Edition.  Features black and white illustrations and two color plates by ELLA DOLBEAR LEE.  This is a lower-cost version of GRIMM'S FAIRY TALES published by Donohue in 1902 (and again in 1920).  The original version featured a dust jacket, included 24 color plates and more stories.  The original book also included proper credit for the artist while this, more economy edition, does not.  It's interesting that different color plates were included with this edition.  There were at least two different color plates used for the covers and a number of different plates for the title page.  This book features "Little Red Riding Hood" for the cover and also for the title page.  I have seen other copies that featured "The Elves", "The Snow Man" and "Hansel and Grethel".  It appears that the selected color plates represented left-over pages from Grimm Fairy Tales printings.  I suspect there may be more differing plates to be found in other copies.  VERY GOOD condition.

This is a sound mid-grade copy of this book.  The cloth end wrap shows fraying and the covers show edge wear and corner blunting.  There is a name and date on the first interior blank page, but no other writing, coloring or markings anywhere else.  All pages are firmly attached, but there is some beginning separation (see photo).  The interior pages look off-white.
