ANTIQUE JAMES MACINTYRE & Co PORCELAIN MANTEL CLOCK IN IMARI STYLE c1900 GWO
Please make use of the enlarge feature on the many photos to fully enjoy all this impressive piece has to offer your home or collection.
My knowledge of pottery/porcelain can be contained on a pin-head. Luckily due to the clear crisp makers marks, the interweb answers all my questions.
Here we have a glorious antique porcelain/pottery mantel clock designed by the famous company of James Macintyre & Co. To my untutored eye, the wonderful decoration, with its fabulous colours and gilding, remind me of the Imari pattern (please judge for yourself). Onto the cream background is laid the fabulous royal blue, the warm rust ochre and the rich red, all highlighted and enhanced with the stunning gilding. To the rear are the underglazed makers marks. It stands 12 inches high, 10 inches wide and 6 inches deep.
Set into this stunning backdrop is the quality French dial and movement. The dial sits behind its bevelled glass and brass bezel, with fine blued steel hands completing a handsome face. To the rear, behind the rear door is the 8 day, pendulum movement. This is in full working order, keeping good time.
Condition: as mentioned, fully working. The case has no damage, just some very fine crazing and a little rubbing to the gilding...in nice, original condition.
A wonderful, eye-catching piece in wonderful, original condition.
