This listing is for a vintage fixed blade knife: Vintage Ornamental Asian Single-Edged Dress Knife with Matching Hardwood Scabbard.
This beautifully detailed collectible piece highlights traditional regional craftsmanship, showcasing an intricately chased metal mounting design along a flush hardwood hilt and single-edged utility blade package, completed by a classic twin-tassel golden cord.
The knife was made in East Asia by an unknown maker (unmarked). The handle appears to be made from polished hardwood with ornate metal fittings and the blade and metal parts from carbon steel. The knife's main blade is approx. 10.5 cm (overall total length of the knife inside the scabbard is approx. 24.5 cm). The knife appears to be from approx. Mid-to-Late 20th Century (Circa 1960s–1980s).
The condition of the knife is in good vintage condition. There is signs of age and use. The knife may need sharpening, cleaning and oiling. The timber frame pieces retain a lovely warm finish, and the chased metal bands display a fine aged character patina with light surface rub wear. The single-edged blade face remains bright with a crisp fuller line and only minor storage spot tracking, while the golden accent tassels show slight historic handling fray consistent with display age.
These knifes could be used but are more intended for collectors. I've done me best to identify and describe the details of the knife. The photos are the best description, as this is the item you will receive.
