This listing is for a vintage pocket knife: Vintage Otter-Messer Solingen 2-Blade Pen Knife with Classic Whale Tang Stamp.
Crafted in Germany's famous cutlery capital, this highly collectible shadow-pattern pocket folder features Otter-Messer's iconic vintage whale hallmark stamped crisply on the master blade ricasso, set against beautifully aged, flush-fitting cream celluloid scales.
The knife was made in Germany by Otter-Messer (Solingen). The handle appears to be made from smooth celluloid / synthetic composition (Cream/Ivory color) and the blade and metal parts from high-carbon steel. The knife's main blade is approx. 5.0 cm (overall closed length is approx. 8.0 cm). The knife appears to be from approx. 1950s–1960s.
The condition of the knife is in good to very good vintage condition. There is signs of age and use. The knife may need sharpening, cleaning and oiling. The smooth cream handle scales are tight, flush, and completely free of cracks or shrinkage gaps. Both high-carbon steel blades retain excellent full profiles with only minor storage carbon spot tracking and light operational patina consistent with age.
These knifes could be used but are more intended for collectors. I've done me best to identify and describe the details of the knife. The photos are the best description, as this is the item you will receive.
