Vintage Zeiss Ikon Contaflex I 861/24 35mm SLR Camera – For Parts / Repair

Vintage Zeiss Ikon Contaflex I 35mm SLR camera made in Germany, fitted with a Zeiss-Opton Tessar 45mm f/2.8 lens and Synchro-Compur shutter.

Camera is in good overall cosmetic condition for its age, with normal signs of vintage use and handling. Includes the original-style fitted Zeiss Ikon hard case shown in the photos. The case has visible exterior wear and deterioration/corrosion to the metal base area.

Mechanical condition:

The camera has been mechanically tested without film. The shutter cocks and does fire at multiple shutter speeds, and different speeds were observed during testing. However, operation is intermittent. The shutter/mirror mechanism sometimes sticks or remains in an incomplete cycle for an extended period before releasing. On some occasions the mechanism released after changing the shutter-speed setting.

Because of this inconsistent operation, the camera should be considered in need of service/CLA or repair. Shutter speeds have not been professionally measured for accuracy.

The aperture adjustment operates and the diaphragm changes through its range.

Optical condition:

The viewfinder is visibly dirty/cloudy internally and will require cleaning/service. The lens also shows internal dust/dirt and age-related optical contamination. Please review the close-up photos carefully. No guarantee is made regarding optical performance.

Camera has not been film tested.
