"Transformers Legacy: The Art of Transformers Packaging" from IDW Publishing is the definitive art book for fans of Generation 1 Transformers. The unique aesthetic of Transformers box art became closely identified with the brand, and this hardcover collects hundreds of those beautifully airbrushed packaging paintings in one volume.

Inside, the artwork is reproduced large and clean: Autobots and Decepticons in dramatic battle scenes, character-by-character spreads with names labelled (Optimus Prime, Megatron, Shockwave, Jazz, Bumblebee, Blaster, Soundwave, Sixshot, Trypticon, the Technobots, Targetmasters, Headmasters, Dinobots and many more), Japanese versions of familiar toys, 1995 Japanese Generation 2 catalog artwork, and a dedicated section on the packaging style used across different markets. Extras include never-before-seen artwork created for toys that were never released, original design sketches, catalog art, sticker and trading card art, and commentary on how the paintings were commissioned and used.

Condition is very good: the binding is tight, pages are clean and bright with no writing observed, and the boards show only light shelf wear at the corners and edges. Please see all photos.

Please refer to the photos for size — a measuring tape is shown alongside the item so you can estimate its dimensions yourself.

A superb reference and coffee-table book for Transformers collectors, illustrators and anyone who grew up with 1980s toy packaging art. Out-of-print art books like this are increasingly sought after, and the exact copy pictured is the one you will receive.

Every page shown in the photos is present, and the images are of the actual copy offered here. Please message with any questions about specific characters or sections before buying — I am happy to photograph a particular page on request. Thank you for looking; questions are always welcome before purchase.
