Art Glass Paperweight Signed Dated by artist. Berea is the Folk Arts and Crafts Capital of Kentucky!! This is largely because of the presence of Berea Studio Artists. One artist, in particular is John England. John England is a well known glassblower. He has had his glass ornaments on the Kentucky tree at the White House in Washington D.C. for two consecutive years, paperweights for Governor Paul Patton to be given as gifts to Japanese dignitaries, as well as awards for the Louisville Symphony Orchestra. An achievement that John is very proud of is his 1993 consignment exhibit in the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery for his marbles and paperweights. The consignment exhibit was in conjunction with "The Year of the American Craft" which was part of a larger showing of Southeastern United States crafts. Up for purchase is one of John England's beautiful paperweights. This paperweight is 3 inches in length. It is in perfect condition with no marks. The detail of this paperweight is shown in the numerous photographs; it’s cobalt through clear glass. The bottom of this paperweight has John England's original signature and is dated "4/94”
