Offered together is a colorful collection of three vintage Italian micromosaic brooches, each featuring a different form and decorative technique.

These pieces use tiny individual sections of colored glass, including floral and millefiori-style elements, assembled by hand into intricate decorative compositions. Italian micromosaic jewelry has a long history as decorative jewelry and as souvenirs purchased by travelers visiting Italy.

Included in the lot:

* Mandolin / guitar-form brooch: Particularly elaborate multicolor micromosaic decoration covering the body and extending onto the neck. Features numerous tiny floral, leaf, geometric and millefiori-style glass elements in blue, turquoise, orange, white, yellow, green and red. Gold-tone metal construction with pin back. This is the most unusual form of the three.

* Rectangular floral brooch: Dense multicolor floral micromosaic composition surrounded by a striking cobalt-blue glass border. Gold-tone/brass-colored metal mount with rope-style edging and pin back. Marked Made in Italy.

* Oval floral brooch: Oval central floral decoration surrounded by elaborate openwork wire filigree in a silver-colored metal. Blue, green, purple and other colored details create a delicate floral composition. Pin-back construction. Metal content of this piece is unknown; it has not been represented as sterling silver.

Identification (Informed Observation):

I believe these are vintage Italian micromosaic jewelry pieces, likely dating broadly to the early-to-mid 20th century, based on their glass tesserae construction, metal mounts, pin mechanisms and overall style. Two are marked Made in Italy, further supporting Italian manufacture. Comparable vintage examples utilize very similar brass mounts, floral glass tesserae and Made in Italy markings.

I have not identified individual makers, and I am therefore leaving the precise dates and makers unattributed.

Condition:

All three are vintage/pre-owned and show age-related wear, patina, oxidation and discoloration to the metal surfaces. The micromosaic work remains visually striking. Due to the extremely small individual glass components, there may be minor losses, looseness or old repairs that are difficult to identify individually.
