The WWII Underwood Universal U.S. Navy Typewriter is a vintage manual typewriter manufactured by Underwood in the United States during the late 1930s to early 1940s. It has a single gothic type face which means it was designed to type upper case only. This portable typewriter is made of durable steel and comes with a case for easy transport. With its historical significance and collectible value, this typewriter is a unique piece of wartime memorabilia that offers a glimpse into the past era. Perfect for collectors or enthusiasts of vintage typewriters, this rare item serves as a tangible reminder of the time when it was used by the U.S. Navy during World War II.
This highly-sought WW II US -Navy Underwood Typewriter is in very good condition. It types but needs new ribbon. It has a few small rusts inside and a tiny paint close to the space bar, so cleaning with oil and service will be ideal to make it type and function even better. It has a case but the side panels of the case were torn out, and it has the usual tear and wear on the covering. The latch is removed, thus the case needs fixing. The US Navy mark is still visible on the case. I am selling everything in as-is condition. Please see photos, and if you have questions, please let me know.
