Rare UK Second Issue - Transitional Pressing
I have play tested this all the way through and on my player and this record sounds great with very limited hiss or crackles. No jumps, skips or sticking.
Dead wax runout:
Side A: SHVL 804 A-3
Side B: SHVL 804 B-3
I have used guides from Pink Floyd Archives and Discogs to verify that this is a second issue from 1973
This is a genuine second issue
UK second issue transitional pressing — one of the rarer and most desirable early variants of this legendary album. These were only produced for a very short time during the changeover from the first pressing to the later represses, making them significantly scarcer than standard copies.
This 2nd pressing has the rare dark navy blue/grey gatefold sleeve with the original front sticker which is lighter grey compared to other versions (comparison photo included showing it against a later black sleeve). I believe these are left over from the Ist issue pressings. One side is Glued shut.
Key identifying features of this desirable transitional pressing:
• A-3 / B-3 matrix in the dead wax
• Original “The Gramophone Co. Ltd” rim text
• Rare navy blue gatefold sleeve with the original front Grey ( not Black ) sticker. Glued shut on one side
Has had the inside bolstered with card to stop the cover splitting as shown.
