Vintage Japanese Wagasa Umbrella / Parasol Showa Era Signed with Calligraphy Rare Collectible circa 1970s.
This is a vintage Japanese traditional umbrella (wagasa) circa 1970s.
The red washi paper surface is decorated with numerous handwritten messages and calligraphy in black ink, including celebratory words such as “寿” (longevity) and “祝” (congratulations), along with many personal names. It was likely presented as a commemorative or celebratory item for a wedding, farewell, or special event.
This umbrella is not intended for practical use today, but makes a fascinating collectible or decorative display piece, offering a glimpse into Japanese culture and postwar history.
Please note that the Bangasa (traditional Japanese umbrella) has some holes due to age and use.
