This Sony E 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II Power Zoom Lens Compact APS-C standard power zoom lens offers a powerful, smooth and quiet zoom perfect for stills and movie creation. Weighing only 107g, its compact build allows for agility as part of your travel kit, while the close-focusing, autofocus performance, and in-built optical stabilisation work towards a more flexible user experience.
Built for a cropped format, this compact zoom provides a versatile focal length of 16-50mm (24-75mm full frame equivalent) that makes it ideal for a variety of shooting situations. Its design features four aspherical elements and one ED (Extra-low Dispersion) element, to reduce aberrations and lessen chromatic aberration, plus a multi-coating for qualities such as anti-reflection, scratch resistance, and anti-glare.
The lens’ minimum focus distance is 0.25m at the wide end and 0.3m at the telephoto end. This power zoom comes with a Wide to Telephoto switch, where the ‘W’ makes the scene wider and the ‘T’ zooms in toward the subject. This switch can work well for close-up shots, as well as letting the lens’ autofocus know what you want in focus. The zoom ring also doubles as the focus ring when in a manual focus mode.
The aperture range of F/3.5-5.6 favours slower shutter speeds in low light, so is still workable for stills or landscapes. It features a 7-blade circular aperture for a more naturally rounded bokeh effect.
