Thus lacking the 8pp ads, and ‘screamed’ corrected to ‘screwed’ at p. 182. Half-leather over faded marbled boards, five raised bands, titles dulled, lacking front endpaper, frontispiece loose. Binding shaken and hinges cracked, exposed at several instances, most notably to p. 270 with this page loose, other leaves loose or loosened, holding fairly well but again, shaken. Heavy rubbing and nicks, toned and sometimes spotted and stained throughout, several plates and some pages repaired to verso, workmanlike. Nevertheless, an early state of one of Dickens’ better novels.
