DESCRIPTION
A charming vintage framed print depicting the Matterhorn and surrounding Alpine landscape, titled “MATTERHORN” with the date “1850” printed beneath.
The scene shows the distinctive Matterhorn rising above a Swiss Alpine valley, with fir trees, mountain slopes and buildings in the foreground.
Close examination of the image shows a regular photomechanical printed screen, indicating that this is a later reproduction rather than an original engraving dating from 1850. The date 1850 is therefore treated as part of the printed title/presentation and not as the production date of this particular print.
Presented in a period gilt-coloured decorative frame with a cream mount and fine gold-coloured inner border.
An attractive vintage decorative piece with appeal for collectors of Alpine, Swiss, mountaineering and travel-related artwork.
