Original 1924 flown Zeppelin cover carried aboard LZ 126 / ZR-3 on its historic delivery flight from Friedrichshafen, Germany, to Lakehurst, New Jersey.

The German-built airship crossed the Atlantic in October 1924 for delivery to the United States and subsequently entered U.S. Navy service as the USS Los Angeles (ZR-3).

This cover bears German airmail postage, Friedrichshafen Luftpost cancellations, the “Mit Luftschiff Z.R.3 befördert” (carried by airship ZR-3) marking, and New York/Brooklyn arrival markings documenting its journey. The illustrated cachet depicts the Zeppelin approaching New York and the Statue of Liberty.

A genuine piece of early transatlantic aviation and Zeppelin postal history connected directly to the flight that delivered one of the U.S. Navy’s most famous rigid airships.
