CONDITION REPORT


Excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There is age-related glaze crazing throughout, which is particularly visible across the cream glazed areas. Minor signs of age and use may be present. Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.


DESCRIPTION


A striking vintage four-piece hand-painted Staffordshire serving set by Shorter & Son Ltd, England.


The set has a wonderfully distinctive Art Deco style, with flowing asymmetric forms, turquoise and cream glazing and individually hand-painted floral decoration.


The set comprises a lidded teapot, large serving bowl, lidded sugar/preserve pot and matching ceramic serving spoon.


All of the main pieces carry the printed “Genuine Staffordshire Hand Painted Shorter & Son Ltd England” backstamp. The Ltd backstamp dates the ware to 1933 or later.


Approximate measurements:


Teapot: 25 cm spout to handle × 12 cm wide × 10 cm high

Serving bowl: 27 cm wide × 8 cm deep

Serving spoon: 22 cm long

Sugar/preserve pot: 8.5 cm wide × 7.5 cm high
