A striking Art Deco Bohemian glass vase, attributed to Franz Welz, dating to the 1920s–1930s.
The vase features a distinctive green and white mottled spatter decoration, layered beneath clear glass to create a beautifully textured and almost marbled appearance.
Its sculptural mould-blown form is particularly attractive, with six broad horizontal ribs creating a rounded, beehive-like body. Above, the vase narrows before opening into a flared trumpet-shaped neck finished with a delicate ruffled rim.
The base is slightly concave and fire-polished, with no visible pontil mark.
An almost identical example in the same green and white colourway, form and dimensions has been documented and attributed to the Franz Welz glassworks of Bohemia.
A wonderful example of interwar Bohemian decorative glass, combining the bold colouring, unusual surface pattern and sculptural forms associated with Art Deco glass production.
