Beautiful vintage Henri Selmer Paris K-Modified Lightweight 24B trumpet, serial number 390XX, dating approximately to the mid-to-late 1960s.
This trumpet belonged to my father and has been in our family for many years. He took exceptional care of his instruments, and that is readily apparent with this horn.
The trumpet is in beautiful vintage condition. I believe the lacquer to be original, with normal age-related wear, light scratches, spotting and discoloration as shown in the photographs. The ornate Selmer Paris bell engraving remains exceptionally crisp and detailed, and the horn presents beautifully overall.
More importantly, the mechanical condition is excellent. The valves are exceptionally smooth, as are the slides, levers and other moving components. This is one of those vintage instruments where you can immediately tell that it was cared for and maintained rather than simply stored away and neglected.
This is the desirable K-Modified Lightweight 24B configuration. The mouthpiece receiver is marked "K-Modified Lightweight," with the 24B designation stamped underneath.
The K-Modified was one of Selmer's classic professional trumpet designs of the period and is instantly recognizable by its distinctive forward-positioned valve section. The model also has a wonderful place in trumpet history, including its well-known association with Louis Armstrong, who played Selmer K-Modified trumpets during the later portion of his career.
Instrument details:
I have not aggressively polished or altered the finish, preferring to leave the trumpet with the vintage character it has acquired over the years.
This is not an instrument that came to me with an unknown history. It was my father's trumpet, and he took tremendous care of his horns. Its overall condition and remarkably smooth mechanical action reflect that care.
A beautiful example of a classic Selmer Paris K-Modified Lightweight 24B, suitable for a player, Selmer enthusiast or collector.
Please review all photographs carefully, as they are part of the description and provide the best representation of the trumpet's cosmetic condition.
