Research located a historic commercial fishing vessel named BLAKELY, U.S. Official No. 235543, built in Washington State in 1936. The vessel measured approximately 41.9 feet long and was recorded with Los Angeles, California as its home port by 1964. The vessel depicted in this artwork appears consistent with a mid-century Pacific Coast commercial fishing boat; however, the exact vessel attribution has not been independently confirmed.

The artist has not been conclusively identified. California artist John Irwin Friedman, known for 1960s San Francisco and maritime etchings, is a possible research lead, but this piece is being sold simply as signed “IRWIN” with no definitive artist attribution.

Artwork is mounted in a deep black stepped frame with silver-tone outer trim, giving it a great Mid-Century Modern / nautical appearance.
