Original Vintage 1950s Old Bookbinder's Restaurant Menu Motorboat Sportsmen Show Philadelphia Pennsylvania

Old Original Bookbinder's traced to an oyster saloon that Dutch-Jewish immigrant Samuel Bookbinder opened in 1893 on Fifth Street near South Street, and from 1898 the landmark seafood house operated at 125 Walnut Street in Philadelphia's Old City. It was known for its lobsters and Bookbinder's snapper soup and for the world's largest indoor lobster tank, which held up to 500 lobsters, and it was long a magnet for celebrities, politicians and tourists. After a family split spawned a rival Bookbinder's Seafood House on 15th Street in 1935, the Walnut Street original took the 'Old Original' name. It closed in April 2009 after bankruptcy, and the building reopened as The Olde Bar in 2015.
