A Child’s doll furniture Rocking Chair made by Thonet. Germany
Antique estimated manufacture date to be in the late 1880’s.
The rocker is in original unrestored condition. Accordingly, it presents with some age related marks, bumps, and scratches, although none seem to be structural. It is missing one screw to the leg, which appears to be an easy fix. (See photos)
Remnants of the paper label and stamps are located on the underside (see photos)
This little chair has remarkably survived, retaining its original wicker (cane) with only one small section of minor damage. (See photos) Otherwise, the wicker is in good condition, with a beautiful aged patina.
Miniature and children's pieces (Kinder- und Puppenmöbel) survived in far smaller numbers than adult furniture. Making this chair a truly exceptional and rare find in Australia.
And is offered in original, as found condition.
