Obverse with uniformed bust of James Cook, reverse with fortune leaning upon a column, holding a rudder on a globe, legend around.
Slightly edgy otherwise toned Good Very Fine and scarce.
Produced in 1784 for the Royal Society of which Cook had been elected a Fellow in 1775. 13 were struck in gold, 289 in silver and 500 in bronze.
