The Diatone DS-1000ZX is a three-way, three-speaker sealed (acoustic suspension) system made in Japan by Diatone, Mitsubishi's respected audio brand, released in 1995 as a high-density, wideband, magnetically shielded speaker system developed to match next-generation super-digital sources. Its 27 cm woofer uses a lightweight aramid honeycomb cone with resin eliminated for high S/N and quick response, an HD suspension that suppresses higher-order resonance for long-term reliability, and a magnetic circuit with 10% higher flux density. Both the 6 cm dome midrange and the 2.3 cm dome tweeter use B4C pure boron diaphragms, formed by Diatone's own plasma-spraying process, with a DUD (Diatone Unified Diaphragm) structure integrating the voice-coil bobbin and diaphragm to reduce driving loss and raise the resonance frequency for fast, low-distortion sound; the tweeter's magnetic circuit reaches up to 20,000 gauss. A seven-layer, six-material sound-absorbing back chamber and a rigid HRC frame further suppress coloration. Covering 39 Hz to 40 kHz with a 6.3-ohm nominal impedance and 90 dB sensitivity, and crossing over at 600 Hz and 5,000 Hz, the DS-1000ZX is a refined, high-resolution speaker system prized by audiophiles.
