French Empire Sterling Silver Salt Cellars Cobalt Blue Glass Liner Pair c.1810

This stunning pair of antique French salt cellars dates back to the 19th century, featuring the refined craftsmanship of Parisian silversmith Denis Garreau, who registered his mark in 1817. Crafted during the Empire and Restauration period, these pieces bear the second cock hallmark for 950/1000 standard silver in use between 1809 and 1819, alongside the maker's stamp.

The openwork silver mounts depict the charming allegory of Faithful Love, showing putti riding dogs, which traditionally symbolize loyalty. Each cellar retains its original deep cobalt blue cut crystal liner and is accompanied by small shovel spoons bearing the Minerva hallmark.
