GROPIUS, Walter. The New Architecture and The Bauhaus. Trans. by P. Morton Shand with preface by Frank Pick. London: Faber & Faber. 1935. 8vo. First edition, first printing. Publisher’s cream cloth lettered in red to spine and front board, in scarce the dust jacket. Profusely illustrated in monotone photographic plates. A nice example, the boards with mild spots to all panels, perhaps a trifle exaggerated in images provided. Gently bumped, but the binding tight and square. The contents with contemporary ink ownership signature to front endpaper, some mild toning to prelims else largely fine. The dust jacket unclipped, with large section of spine foot lost, chipped, rubbed and nicked to all sections and joints, quite ragged but present and still uncommon thus.
A nice copy of one of the most important books of modernist architecture.
