Published by Spellmount Limited in 2006, this military history examines Britain’s ill-fated campaign against the Spanish colony of the Rio de la Plata during the Napoleonic period.

Drawing upon English and Spanish sources, Fletcher recounts the British expeditions and the fighting surrounding Buenos Aires, including the eventual British surrender in 1807. The campaign involved officers who would later become prominent during the Peninsular War, including William Carr Beresford, Denis Pack and Robert “Black Bob” Craufurd.
