In my family from new. The impressed anchor probably dates this beautiful English cabinet plate to the 1820s.  The molded handles indicate this piece was originally part of a high-end dessert service and may have been used for serving fruit or small cakes or was displayed in a “cabinet room” to showcase the wealth of the owners. The central gold sunburst element is a classical design used by Davenport and typically hand painted with 22ct gold over white porcelain base.  The green and blue border combines vibrant scrollwork with underglaze green with overglaze blue. Because Davenport went bankrupt in 1877 and its original factory pattern books were lost, pieces from specific numeric sub-patterns are highly collectible. The inclusion of the handprinted #1084 indicates a master gilder checked the work before it left the Longport kiln for sale.
