Rare original early U.S. Army M-1948 Boots, Service, Combat, Russet dating from approximately 1950, the first period of mass production for this historic post-WWII combat boot.

Men's size 8 1/2 D.

The M-1948 was adopted by the U.S. Army in late 1948 and entered large-scale production around 1950. It became an important U.S. Army combat boot of the Korean War era and is visually related to the tall lace-up military footwear developed during WWII.

Features include tall russet brown leather construction, reinforced cap toes, 11-pair lace-up eyelets, heavy welted construction, nailed rubber soles and heels, reinforced heel counters, and surviving interior military contract/manufacturing markings.

The interior markings include MILDEW RESISTANT wording and period contract information. The surviving markings appear consistent with approximately 1950 production.

Original U.S. Military Contract Footwear

These boots have outstanding authentic military patina. The leather shows substantial natural scuffing, scratches, fading, creasing, abrasions and color variation throughout from decades of age and use. The toes and heels show especially strong wear and patina.

Original-style soles and heels show wear from use but remain substantial as pictured.

These boots have NOT been heavily refinished or restored. Their aged russet finish and genuine wear are an important part of their historical appearance and collectible character.

IMPORTANT: These are M-1948 U.S. Army combat boots and should not be confused with the earlier WWII M-1942 paratrooper jump boots, which have a similar overall appearance.
