A lovely and increasingly collectible vintage Heuer 2000 Professional, dating from the pre-TAG era and featuring a particularly attractive mustard/gold-toned dial.
This is certainly not a mint example, but it has plenty of genuine vintage character and presents very nicely on the wrist.
The mustard-coloured dial has developed some age-related patina and marking, which can be clearly seen in the photographs.
I would describe this primarily as patina rather than significant damage, and personally I think it adds to the vintage character of the watch. Please study the photographs carefully to make sure you are happy with the condition.
The stainless-steel case is in reasonable condition considering its age, with the expected collection of scratches, small nicks and marks from many years of use.
The rotating bezel is in good condition and operates very nicely with a positive click.
The original lume pip at 12 o'clock is missing, which is fairly common on watches of this age.
The crown currently operates as a push-pull crown rather than a screw-down crown.
The Heuer 2000 Series was originally designed with a screw-down crown, so it appears that at some point in the watch's life the crown and/or crown tube has been replaced or modified. It is a signed Heuer crown.
Because of this, the watch is being sold as NOT WATER RESISTANT. I would strongly recommend keeping it away from water unless it is inspected and pressure tested by a competent watchmaker.
The watch retains its original Swiss quartz movement, which is correctly signed HEUER rather than TAG Heuer, as you would expect from a pre-TAG example.
The watch is currently working correctly and keeping time as it should.
The original bracelet/strap is no longer present, so the watch has been fitted with a comfortable aftermarket rubber strap.
I actually think the rubber works particularly well with the mustard dial and gives the watch a great vintage-sports look while making it very comfortable to wear.
There are no original box or papers with the watch.
It will, however, be supplied in a simple clamshell travel case, which isn't particularly valuable but will keep the watch protected during postage, storage and travel.
A characterful vintage Heuer 2000 that wears really nicely and retains its original Heuer-signed movement, dial and hands.
It's not one for somebody looking for a pristine collector's example – it has patina, marks from use, a missing bezel lume pip, replacement strap and a non-screw-down crown – but that's reflected in the price.
For someone who enjoys genuine vintage watches with a bit of history and character, I think it's a really attractive piece.
