This is a pair of ladies shoes from the Victorian era, (Late 19th Century to early 20th, I believe). They are high top button-up shoes with black leather bodies and charcoal colored, (originally black but now somewhat faded), canvas uppers. The maker is named on the inside as Howard & Foster, and they have a label that indicates that they were sold by Joske Brothers of San Antonio Texas. These were found at the estate sale of an early (and prominent) family in Beeville Texas. They were a ranching family, and these have traces of a substance on the soles that looks typical for that era in South Texas, (I think they had to step in around and through a lot of it back then- I'll leave that for the new owner to clean up- after all it has already been there for over a century)). These are in good condition and could even be worn, (although it is doubtful that they would be your preferred style). I don't know anything about the size of this pair. There is a number inside, (shown in pictures), but I don't know if that relates to size at all or not. These will be great for anyone with a collection of Victorian ladies attire.
