The Traditional Process
Making traditional Lampang ceramics, such as the famous ceramic requires specific stages
  1. Clay Preparation: High-quality white clay mined locally in the Chae Hom district is mixed with water to create liquid slip.
  2. Molding: The slip is poured into plaster molds to form the desired shape (e.g., bowls, mugs).
  3. Drying & Trimming: The clay piece dries, is removed from the mold, and any imperfections are trimmed.
  4. Painting: Artisans hand-paint traditional designs, like the rooster, directly onto the dried clay.
  5. Glazing & Firing: A glaze is applied, and the items are fired at high temperatures (traditionally in dragon or tunnel kilns) to harden the ceramics and create a glossy finish.
