These are WINE glasses not champagne coupes the hollow stems are closed

Hollow stems where the drink flows into the stem are usually found with champagne glasses, flutes and coupes, to help create the bubbles; a style popular in the late victorian and Edwardian period. Wine glasses with closed hollow stems started much earlier and earlier wine glasses were often much smaller than modern sizes.
