An attractive antique Victorian sterling silver and glass claret jug hallmarked in Sheffield for 1868 by Martin Hall. This claret jug has a plain ovoid shaped glass body, a pretty silver mount with leaf decoration and a hinged lid with an acorn finial. The spout has been styled with Cherub figures with a Bacchus head motif below which completes this unusual design. It would be practical to use and would comfortably hold a full bottle of wine. The glass body has been renewed over time in keeping with the original design and remains in excellent condition.
