An interesting old pair of traditional candle wick trimmers / candle snuffers, with the characteristic enclosed catcher designed to collect the trimmed portion of wick.

The piece has an attractive utilitarian form with decorative loop handles, three small supporting feet and a long pointed end. A lovely little survivor from the days when candle wicks required regular trimming to maintain a cleaner, steadier flame.

Constructed from darkened metal, believed to be steel/iron. No maker’s mark has been identified.
