CONDITION
Near Mint to Lightly Played. Light edge whitening at a few locations on the back. The holo surface retains full gloss with clean cosmos foil across the artwork window. Corners are intact. No swirl on this copy — verified bare-card under single-source overhead light. Photographed front and back under diffuse light, with a video so you can assess the foil directly.
ABOUT THE SET
Neo Discovery, released by Wizards of the Coast in June 2001, is the third English set in the Neo series and ran 75 cards. It carried the full Unown alphabet subset and a holo lineup that includes Espeon and Umbreon, two of the most collected cards of the WOTC era. The holos are printed on cosmos foil, the stars-and-circles pattern that runs from Base Set 2 through the early EX era.
ABOUT THIS CARD
Poliwrath 9/75, illustrated by Shin-ichi Yoshida. Yoshida frames Poliwrath in profile mid-stance, fists loose, against a dark backdrop that lets the cosmos foil read as scattered light.
Stage 2, 90 HP, evolving from Poliwhirl — and printed here as a Fighting type rather than Water, a Neo-era reclassification that still catches collectors’ eye. Corkscrew Punch hits for 30 at one Fighting and one Colorless. Submission hits for 70 and deals 20 back to Poliwrath, the kind of all-in trade that defined how Stage 2 attackers played in 2001. Weakness to Psychic, two Colorless retreat, LV. 45.
PROVENANCE
Single owner. I pulled this card from a Neo Discovery pack myself as a kid in 2001 and it has been in my possession continuously since. It has never been traded, resold, or passed through a bulk lot. Every card in my store comes from that same childhood collection, photographed and described by me personally.
