History & Legacy

The Montblanc Meisterstück No. 149 is one of the most iconic fountain pens ever created. Introduced in the early 1950s, it has remained Montblanc’s flagship writing instrument and is recognized worldwide as the benchmark for luxury fountain pens.

This particular example belongs to the highly collectible Transitional W.-Germany production period and is believed to date to circa 1990–1991, shortly before and during German reunification.

Its combination of the “W.-Germany” engraving together with an engraved six-digit serial number (102048) identifies it as an early transitional example, a configuration highly sought after by collectors due to its relatively short production period.

Adding to its desirability, this pen still retains its original factory Fine (F) identification sticker, a feature rarely found on vintage Meisterstück 149 fountain pens.

Whether you’re an experienced collector or searching for a lifetime writing instrument, the Meisterstück 149 represents one of the finest fountain pens ever produced.
