3 Huron Blanket Beads Venetian Glass Fur Trade Era 1700's First Trade Beads!!

Description

The first trade beads ever! Blue Delft trade beads, often called "blanket beads," are large, vibrant blue wound glass beads from the 1700s. European traders brought these early glass beads to the Great Lakes region and traded them to Indigenous peoples like the Huron and Seneca in exchange for valuable furs. European glassmakers produced these large blue beads in the Netherlands and Venice during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Fur trade currency served as a direct medium of exchange where Indigenous groups traded pelts for European goods, including textiles, axes, and glass beads. The term "blanket bead" likely stems from how these sizable beads were sewn onto garments, traded alongside woolen blankets, or used in major economic transactions.
These large blue monochrome beads were heavily favored by woodland tribes.

Original old glass trade beads from the Huron people. Each buyer will get 3 beads I will grab from my supply. No picking and choosing please. FREE shipping to the USA. I hope you have a wonderful day!!! 🤗
