A 1969?70 Marshall JMP Model 1987 50W Head has arrived!

On July 7, 1960, he opened a family-run music store called [Jim Marshall and Son] with his family at 76 Axbridge Road in Hanwell, London, initially selling a variety of musical instruments. Many musicians frequented the store as customers, including The Who's guitarist Pete Townshend, Ritchie Blackmore, John Entwistle, Big Jim Sullivan (a friend of Terry's), and Keith Moon, who discovered the shop through one of Jim's drum students.

Around 1962, the [JTM45] based on the Tweed-era Fender Bassman quickly gained popularity. Since the amplifiers of that era lacked sufficient volume, Pete Townshend requested a more powerful model, leading to the creation of the [Model 1959 Plexi] around 1965.

This unit is the [Model 1987 Head], which hit the market the following year in 1966. With an output of 50W, it has gained popularity today as a model that delivers Marshall-style distortion at a moderate volume.
Although various specification changes were made after its release, this unit uses two 6CA7 (EL34) tubes and three 12AX7B tubes.
When the owner acquired it, the circuitry had apparently been modified to resemble that of a Fender amp; however, it was recently restored to its original circuit configuration at our workshop, which involved replacing some capacitors and resistors, as well as re-soldering certain connections.
The potentiometers, main transformer, indicator lamp, tube sockets, handle, and some screws have been replaced. As part of the recent circuit restoration, the unit has been fully overhauled, ensuring it delivers exceptional sound.

Additionally, although the details are unclear, the label on the chassis has peeled off and is illegible; however, [Kurt James 11-28-89] has been written over it, leading us to speculate that the circuit was modified in 1989.
The Tolex is black, but there are traces indicating that it was previously painted orange and then painted black over that.

Based on the serial number [S/A] this is a 50W model; the [3945A] indicates it was manufactured in 1969?70, with this specific unit numbered 3945.

For international shipment we use EMS (Express Mail Service) provided by the International Postal Service or DHL. EMS and DHL are safe, fast (approx. 4 to 14 days worldwide), and fully insured. If you have a preferred choice of courier (which you have your own account for) and would like to use that courier, you may talk to one of our International Sales Agent directly.Please note that we do not ship our merchandises by vessels at sea, only by air. Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges.These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. In the case that the buyer neglects to pay import duty and the package is returned to us, we will issue a refund upon arrival however the original shipping cost, PayPal fees, and a 15% restocking fee will be deducted.

Return Policy

In general we do not accept returns unless in the following exceptional circumstances:


  • Transport damage: Damage caused during shipping. Please check for any damages to your package before signing for your shipment and if you find any damages, report it to the shipping company immediately.

  • You received the wrong item: You received a different item than what you ordered.we would of It is extremely rare that we send the wrong item but in case it happens, course take it back.

    • In the case of any of these reasons, please email our staff within 24 hours and make the subject of your email "Return request". Please be as specific with the details as possible.
    Do not discard any of the packaging, manuals, papers, parts or accessories the item has been supplied with, and in particular, please do not remove protective film from any of the instruments pickups, pickguards, control plates, etc.

    A full refund of the purchase price (minus bank costs, PayPal fees, shipping costs, duty and tax) of the goods, or exchange will be made once the goods are returned to us in the same condition as when they left our premises.

    Please note! We do not accept returns for any other reasons. This means that you can not return an item simply for not being satisfied with what you purchased and we therefore suggest you to do enough research about the specific model prior to ordering.We will gladly provide our expertise beforehand to make your decision easier.
