PLEASE SEE UPDATES IN THE LISTING FOR EXTRA INFORMATION

For auction is the reluctant sale of my 1989 Ford Sierra XR4X4. I don't really want to get rid of this car, it is a lovely car, only driven a few miles when I got it in 2021 I think, (will correct this if it's wrong). Reason is simple. I love, Mk2 Ford Cortina's, really do, love the look and wanted one. That was until I drove one when viewing and thought Oh my God, this ain't for me. So, Because ive always liked me old fords, and worked on them when I did my apprenticeship in early 90's, I thought a Cosworth. Well me sensible head kicked in and I couldn't justify the 30k at the time. So decided on a XR4X4.

I looked at a few including a XR4i in Scotland, and eventually settled on the one now for sale. But. My mind has changed since then. There's been health issues etc etc so the car has been in my garage and not had the work it requires. But the main reason is I own my garage, and have really lost interest and desire in cars and really don't like working on them at work, never mind coming home and farting about with mine. So what started as a dream to go out on a Sunday afternoon with my wife and son in the Sierra, well the working and maintenance on the Sierra has become a chore and I just don't want to open the garage and do anything. I really hope, the next owner will do what's needed, use it and enjoy it.

So, the car. Lovely clean and presentable Blue XR4X4 in pretty good nick. Looks lovely when polished up, looks lovely with the RS skirts and Cossie grills in bonnet. Marks here and there as you would expect, rear spoiler could do with repainting. and corrosion in the N/S/F door. Wheels are shite Mondeo ones, bought cheap as tyre's were good with intention of replacing with some thing better at a later date. Looking close it has had a few repairs to body hear and there, but to my eyes unless you are really looking for it its not obvious. It has had a new wing at some point O/S/F.

Running gear, all there, a standard XR4X4 that drives and stops. But, this did used to be a Turbo Technics model. Has the plate on the fuse box plus loads of stuff in the big folder of history. So defo has had an engine because it is not a turbo now. Ally cam covers so look a lot nicer that the original steel ones. Alloy engine mounts

Suspension, KONI setup with adjustable shocks (not coil overs), will take a photo of the setup fitted when I dig out the paperwork for it. Lowered as well by I think 40 mm,  but low at the rear as you can see from picks. This was brand new and fitted by me. less that 40 miles covered.

Interior. Saggy roof lining, Cosworth front and rear seats, so as it came out of a Sapphire there rear seat backs don't lock like the hatch back ones, so maybe they need swapping with an original set. Fronts are ok, no major damage but wear and tear as you would expect. Full Laserline alarm and immobilizer system fitted by my auto electrician. works with central locking so opens and closed all doors. Everything as you would expect from an old car. Drivers door trim off at the moment because I replaced then window regulator. Lower steering column trim missing but I am sure I bought a new one so will dig it out.

Known issues. Corrosion on N/S/F door, spoiler needs painting, ABS light on, needs a front sensor repairing, speedo cable not connected, tailgate button sticking and needs lubricating, holes in both rear inner sills. A few other bits and bobs but nothing drastic. This is a good car and far too good to break or scrap. If I think of anything else I will add to the write up
