Delicately plated with nickel, imitating the reflective surfaces of proof coinage. Though there are plated or specially finished examples known for other types of medals of this period, this is the first and only nickel plated example we’ve ever seen for this type, the additional plating work indicates that this medal was made for some special purposes.

This medal belongs to series usually known as “starvation medals” or “inflation medals”. On the reverse, this medal shows inflated prices in Saxony in Feb. 1923.
