Original Cadillac 2 piece radiator badge emblem insignia nameplate. The Cadillac was introduced in 1903, created by Henry M. Leland, and became part of General Motors in 1909. Online research indicates this type of emblem was used in 1930 only on cars with a V-8 engine. Emblems like these were made using the champleve or guilloche method of bonding molten glass to a copper base which was then plated.  2 1/8" diameter backing plate has a black enamel center with a nickel plated outer frame. The 1 1/16" wide by 1 5/16" high Cadillac logo crest with seven pointed crown has red, white, blue, and black enamel with gold plating. Makers mark "THE D.L. AULD CO. COLUMBUS, O." on back. Good to very good used condition, no dents, bends or cracks, a few minor scratches. One area of chipped enamel on the backing plate, balance of enamel is all intact and excellent. The plating shows some wear, the mounting stud, nut, and locating pin are in place and useable but there is some solder residue. Great for your collection, use as is on a driver or easily restored. U.S. buyers will pay $8.00 Ground shipping, International shipping cost will vary based on location. NO RESERVE. Please see our other auctions for more emblems and radiator badges.
