RARE ANTIQUE FRENCH 950 SOLID SILVER TRAVEL CIBORIUM – DEMARQUET FRÈRES PARIS c. 1850

A rare and exceptionally crafted 19th-century French 950 solid silver travel ciborium (ciboire de voyage) with gilded accents. Made in Paris circa 1850 by the prestigious silversmiths Demarquet Frères, this portable sacred vessel is a stunning piece of ecclesiastical history and fine French silversmithing.

DESIGN AND CRAFTSMANSHIP

Designed with an ingenious two-part threaded assembly, this compact sacred vessel disassembles smoothly into two main components historically crafted for priests administering sacraments while traveling.

It features a beautifully proportioned circular base with a gentle dome that provides elegance and stability. Both the cup and lid are adorned with fine beaded borders (filets de perles). The interior retains its original gold wash (vermeil), and the lid is crowned with an exquisite cross with trefoil finials (croix fleuronnée).
