Description

Vintage signed Marvel Poncho Zuni sterling silver ring dating to approximately the 1970s–1980s. The oval face features traditional Zuni mosaic inlay with mother of pearl, turquoise, coral, and dark green stone forming a butterfly against a polished mother of pearl background. The butterfly is accented by hand-applied sterling raindrop details and set in an oxidized sterling silver bezel with a split shank. Signed "PONCHO" on the reverse. Marvel Poncho frequently worked alongside Fred Poncho, and the Poncho family is well respected within Zuni Pueblo for their fine mosaic and channel inlay jewelry. This is a collectible example of classic Zuni inlay craftsmanship.

Condition

Pre-owned in very good vintage condition. Inlay remains intact with no missing sections observed. Sterling silver shows an attractive natural patina and light surface wear consistent with age and normal use. Seller does not polish sterling; patina preference is left to the buyer.
