Up for sale is this extremely rare and unique antique pair of original US Civil War double lens side shield telescoping sliding temple blue sunglasses with a double lens design. These brass framed antique sunglasses are marked on the side that they were made by Schildknect, in Germany.    Our research has indicated that they were often used by Civil War sharpshooters to reduce glare.  Has side sliding telescoping temples to adjust for fit.  The side lenses are hinged so the wearer could use as regular sunglasses or side shieling sunglass.  Wonderful blue colored lenses.  leather case included.  Frames are in excellent condition.  One front lens has a tiny flake and one side lens has a tiny light spot but lenses are in nice shape for the antique age and use.  Mechanical parts work smoothly.
