This is a Japanese Satsuma porcelain cup and saucer set, featuring detailed hand-painted figures inside a scalloped, gold-trimmed border.

The set is adorned with gold moriage, a technique using raised enamel to create texture and intricate patterns.

Such pieces often depict scenes of people or "story" narratives and were popular for export during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The mark on the cup appears to be Satsuma.  The saucer appears to be part of the set but marking is vague.
