My aunt gave me this bag along with several other vintage and antique bags. I had to scratch my head. Inside, I noticed there was a little pin cushion on the bottom of it still with a few pins . There are little pockets all around for the thread and notions.. the bag is beautifully embroidered with two handmade flowers the fabric is definitely discolored/dirty. The outer color is a blue grey, and the inner is gold. The drawstrings are gold. I was going to try to clean it, but I figured I would leave it up to the buyer.

I’ve been doing a little bit of research since I have several antique or vintage bags from her and saw that this was one was called a work bag.

In the 19th and 20th century, they were generally a good size with pockets sewn around for keeping various items together. It has a drawstring closure. It has held everything from sewing goods to items. A lady might put in a purse, ( which really had not been popularized during these times ) such as calling cards, etc

Please see photos as they are the most important part of the description. Thank you for looking.
