IMPORTANT: These upgrade gears are strictly designed for original OEM controllers only. They will not fit third-party or aftermarket controllers.
STRICTLY LIMITED BATCH PRODUCTION: Due to the slow, highly precise nature of secondary robotic CNC micro-machining and our 15-micron epoxy bath process, we cannot mass-produce these kits quickly. Once this current inventory sells out, the next manufacturing run will take up to 6 weeks. Secure your upgrade kit today before our on-hand stock is gone.
Tired of loose, drifting, or gritty classic 64-bit joysticks? The original module was built entirely out of plastic. Over time, plastic grinding against plastic creates that infamous white powder, which is the literal dust of your crumbling childhood hardware. This leads to massive center deadzones and ruined gameplay.
The Retrounit Kit is the permanent, industrial-grade solution. We have replaced the high-wear plastic gears with high-pressure die-cast aluminum, completely shielded by a micro-thin epoxy coating to protect your original controller parts from wear.
What's Included:
- 1 x X-Axis Precision Aluminum Gear (ADC12 Alloy)
- 1 x Y-Axis Precision Aluminum Gear (ADC12 Alloy)
- 1 x 0.5g Packet Retrounit Pure PTFE Grease (Premium Friction Barrier)
Key Product Features
- Premium ADC12 Silicon-Aluminum Alloy: Struck using high-pressure industrial die casting, these gears offer maximum structural rigidity. They will never flex, warp, or wear out, even during intense competitive play.
- Robotic CNC Post-Machining: Every gear undergoes secondary automated CNC diamond-bit machining to tightly minimize center slop. This process removes all parting lines and burrs, cutting the tracking slots to strict sub-millimeter tolerances for a highly responsive input.
- 10 to 15 Micron Epoxy E-Coating: Raw aluminum behaves like a file against plastic. Our gears feature an electrofused Epoxy Resin E-Coat that is just 10 to 15 microns thick, which is roughly one-fifth the width of a human hair. This creates an ultra-smooth polymer skin that completely eliminates metal-on-plastic grinding.
- 0.5g Pure PTFE Grease Included: Formulated specifically for classic console hardware, this 100% synthetic lubricant contains zero petroleum distillates or mineral oils. It is entirely safe for 30-year-old original plastics and provides a smooth hydrodynamic glide.

Installation Notes:
- Completely disassemble your original OEM joystick module and clean out all old plastic dust and debris using isopropyl alcohol.
- Drop in the Retrounit X and Y aluminum gears.
- Apply a small, half-pea-sized amount of the included Retrounit Pure PTFE Grease to the gear slots, the stick pivot point, and the inside of the housing bowl. Note that less is more, so do not over-lubricate to protect the optical sensors.
- Reassemble and enjoy crisp, restored precision.
