comprising promissory notes and bills / orders for payment


A particularly interesting group involving named individuals based in the north east of England including Bishopwearmouth, South Shields, Sunderland and Swillington, all locations connected with shipping, coal, coastal trade and regional commerce in the 18th century. A London-addressed bill also shows the connection between provincial trade and metropolitan finance.
